Tatu

A few days ago our dear Tatu passed away. She left a legacy behind her as the mother with the most chihuahuas in the household. A very energetic, loving dog who would not stop barking once she started. She loved to be pet and she loved to lick everyone non-stop.
Tatu left us a few days after she gave birth to two little pups. One of them could not survive without its mothers milk. An extraordinary effort and fight to save the other one has been going on for about a month now. The last daughter of Tatu.
Tatu is buried next to her mother Izi, brother Beam and grandfather Oggi.

Dogs go to heaven

I received the text message from my mum this morning that our dear Izi passed away. Despite expected, I always had that secret hope, that her health (and time) would possibly turn around and she would go back to the Izi I loved, knew and grew up with.

The memories are countless, the loved she received and gave endless. I will always remember her as my dear dog, the dog that my parents brought home 16 years ago, when I was 16.

The puppy that I had to feed, when my parents were abroad.

The bitch that would bark and bite anyone and everyone.

The sweet companion that would never turn me down (like other girls did) during my last years of high school.

The dog that when she gave birth to 4 wonderful puppies, her character changed and became so sweet.

The dog that when she wanted food, she begged for with a human-like voice.

The dog that left us with a lot of adorable puppies, sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters.

The dog that would always want to play with me, even in her last few weeks of life.

The dog that would always lick my nose.

The dog that took over Ogi, when her dear Ogi passed away.

The QUEEN of our household.

As her life ended today, the emotions are mixed. I am sad because she won't be there when I call her name. I am also happy because, she lived a full life, she was loved, she left a lot of ancestors and because she is not in pain anymore.

She is in a good place, with good friends. Sleep well dear Izi.

Tattoo and Ice

Izi's daughters..

The matriarch!

Izi was the second chihuahua of the house, and now the oldest one of the family. She is 15 years going on to 16.
Izi was brought to Cyprus from Greece but she is of Hungarian origin. Over the years she changed from a territorial, annoying, don't-even-try-to-touch-me dog to a loving, sweet dog that wants to play all the time despite her old age.
Izi gave birth to 4 beautiful dogs in her first birth, Beam IV, Tattoo, Ice and Jolie. This birth was also the beginning of the change in her character. Izi is also a survivor of two surgeries and still remains the Chihuahua head of the house.

RIP Beam IV

Today, 9/8/2012 we lost a good friend.
Living up to the legacy of the "Beam" name, Beam died of heart complications in the hands of the person he loved the most.
One of the most beautiful chihuahuas, Beam, the son of Izi and Joya (or Latiko), looked like a lion with his beautiful brown-blonde hair. He was the biggest chihuahua of the pack, a loving companion, a sweet dog who loved to sleep in grandmas lap.

Beam loved his ball. His favorite game was ball throwing in the house's living room. For a few years, it used to be our 5 minute activity during lunch break. I would go home, he would beg to get out of his room, he would cry for his ball and I would just throw it to him. He would bring it back and I would do it again. For 5 minutes and then like the little good dog he was, he would go back in his room.
Due to his heart arrhythmia in the last year we stopped playing this game, but Beam would still beg to get out of his room and play it.

Such a happy dog, such a sad time to see him going. He is going to find his grandfather Ogi, and grandmother Lara and 3 other Beams where he is going. He will be missed and always remembered.
Sleep well my friend, you had a tough last year...

The Patriarch

Ogi was the reason it all started. Ogi was "imported" from the UK in the early 90's, to replace the deceased Doberman Pinscher Miniature of the family. Ogi's original name was Pepsi, but the name Ogi prevailed once he got into our home.
Ogi's doggy companion in the house was a Terrier, Beam III. Ogi's won over everyone in the house from the very first moment. A Chihuahua to its word, he was a loving companion, an honest dog, a family dog. Entertaining and personable, Ogi's most distinguishable characteristics were both associated with food. As a little puppy he would grab his food plate and bring it to its owner when he was hungry. As an adult dog, he would sit on his two legs and beg for food.
Ogi passed away of old age complications in 2004, leaving behind him a legacy of Chihuahuas that spread all over Cyprus nowadays.
Ogi is buried in the family house.
